A cup is one of the most extraordinary ways of honouring a person. It does not matter, whether this person is awarded a prize for their amazing athletic achievements – as is being done with the help of sports trophies – or for their efforts on any other field of social life or science. Honouring someone’s accomplishments with the help of a cup definitely is the best way to remember a special event such as winning a sport’s competition.

It is hard imagining that a cup – in its original sense – was just a simple drinking vessel that was used on a daily basis due to its cooling qualities. Matter-of-factly, to ancient Greeks and Romans, a cup was just as usual as any glass or plate is to us nowadays. But, by the end of the Middle Ages, cups already had lost most of their commonness and started to become a kind of status symbol.

They no longer were made of simple and cheap materials; they were made of pure and precious metals such as gold or silver, and accompanied by valuable adornments made of ivory, gemstones or other sophisticated materials.
A cup at the end of the 16th century was used to show a lord’s affection for one of his subjects or to impress equals and fair and noble ladies as part of rich bounties. This tradition today still lives on, as people are being gifted for special accomplishments by their fellow citizens. Nevertheless, most cups or sports trophies do not resemble a drinking vessel anymore.

They rather depict the field of activity in which a person is awarded, such as the many different types of sport that are out there. And – in opposition to a simple medal – a cup really can be a very enriching element in your home that looks very special and will catch every visitor’s attention, so that they know of your achievements right away.

So if you would like to give such a special gift to one of your friends or family members or if you simply want to capture one of your biggest moments, one of our Bronze sports trophies and cups might be just the right decision for you.
