Large Sculptures

Bronze specifies on one side a chemical element and a metal alloy and on the other side it’s the denotation of models and figures out of bronze.

The term bronze is Latin and deduced from the name of the city “Brundisium” in south Italy. This city was the capital of bronze manufacturing in past times.

A so-called “Großbronze” identifies a special form of a Bronze in terms of a sculpture. The metal bronze is a popular material for modelling figures and plastics. The “Großbronze” is characterized by its size. This kind of Bronze was nowadays and also in past times a popular kind of decoration for inside and outside. Often used motives are modern designs like the torso, mythic designs or even erotic scenes. Other favoured designs are “Großbronzen“ in the style of Art Nouveau or baroque styled ones.

These special forms of art are beautiful accessories for the own garden or the own house. The most famous and best known “Großbronze” in the history of human being is “The Praying Boy” a huge sculpture from around 300 BC which was made in the tradition of a Greek sculptor named Lysipp. This sculpture made out of bronze belongs nowadays to the treasures of the “Altes Museum” in Berlin.
