This really nice Art Deco bronze dancer sculpture is named "Starfish" and was invented by Demetre Haralamb Chiparus. Wrapped into a wonderful costume, upright standing on her tiptoe, the dancer "Starfish" is mounted to a spectacular multilayer marble-base. The sculpture is made of finest bronze material and casted in our foundry in an amazing agreement to the original. "Starfish" is artist signed by the famous Demetre H. Chiparus at the upper side of the bronze socket. It is a true detailed museum bronze cast and can be called a focal point in every exhibition. The sculpture is an absolute eye-catcher for friends of bronze sculptures, Art Deco collectors of friends of the art made by D.H. Chiparus.
As all of the bronze products in our shop, this exhibit is hand-cast in our own foundry and subject to our strict quality inspections throughout the entire process of fabrication. All of our sculptures are exclusively compounded with the help of lost-wax casting.
The artist Demetre Haralamb Chiparus who was born on September 16, 1886 in Dorohoi, Romania is well known for his beautiful Art Deco sculptures. Demetre H. Chiparus was always inspired by the French theatre, fashion, Russian dancers and the Russian ballet as well as by the Egyptian culture. Almost all his sculptures, except those which portrayed little children, are influenced by one of the named sources of inspiration. Chiparus studied in Florence and in Paris and exhibited his art at the Salon in Paris since 1914. The life of the great sculptor ended after he suffered a stroke a day when he returned from the zoo in Vincennes, where he studied animals on January 22, 1947.
